John Hunt

John has been a part of McLaren Hunt since 1979. John has been a partner of the firm since 1981 until retiring from the partnership in June 2013, and remaining as a consultant. As a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, John is in an excellent position to assist clients in tax planning, retirement planning and superannuation. John also specialises in business management, farm consulting and succession planning. John has specialist knowledge regarding the establishment and compliance requirements for trusts and charitable organisations.

Steven started at McLaren Hunt in 2004 after completing his studies at Deakin University. He has over 13 years' experience in tax and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Steven also has extensive experience in the administration of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds.

Andrew started at McLaren Hunt in 2004 combining work and university study for two years before commencing full time in 2007. Having grown up on a farm, Andrew enjoys working alongside farmers taking care of their taxation requirements and looking at their future objectives. Andrew also works with small to medium business clients including retail stores, cafés and architects. Andrew spends his weekends playing football for the Warrnambool Football Club.

Barrie is part of the Taxation and Business Services team and provides taxation services to farmers, small business, individuals and self-managed superannuation funds.

Maxine joined McLaren Hunt in 1996. Since that time she has worked in the Taxation and Business Services division, assisting individuals, small business and self-managed superannuation funds meet their tax obligations. Maxine specialises in Self-Managed Super Funds looking at ways to maximise client's income and savings for retirement. She has completed a Bachelor of Commerce, Diploma of Financial Planning and is an SMSF Specialist Adviser TM.

Paul grew up on a farm in Woolsthorpe and completed his high school and University studies in Warrnambool. Paul worked for a small Melbourne firm for 7 years, during which time he completed his CPA studies. Paul moved back to Warrnambool in 2006 and has been working at McLaren Hunt since that time in the Taxation and Business Services department.

Toby commenced working with McLaren Hunt in 2011 after working as an auditor with the Australian Taxation Office. Toby specialises in taxation and superannuation services, and computerised accounting software; particularly MYOB, Reckon (QuickBooks) and Xero.

Mal worked with MBO Financial Group for over 34 years and continues with McLaren Hunt, enjoying working with a diverse range of business and rural clients. His hands on approach and belief in visiting clients at their place of business gives valuable insight into their operations, priding himself on availability and access to his clients.

Being born and raised on the family dairy farm at Woodford, Mal has a deep understanding and interest in all rural business and tax matters regularly consulting with clients on a full range of services from compliance to superannuation, succession planning, business structures and financial management.

Colin was born and raised in Hamilton, before obtaining his Economics & Accounting Degree at Deakin University in Warrnambool.

Whilst working for a National Accounting Group in Queensland for seven years, Colin obtained his CPA qualifications.

Colin returned to Victoria and joined MBO Financial Group, now McLaren Hunt, in 2000.

 

Colin has over twenty five years experience working with small to medium sized businesses. His professional interests include advising clients on their 'Key Performance Indicators', business practises, business management and tax minimisation.

Colin services clients within the education, allied health, legal, building, retail, agricultural and other industries.

Chris began his accounting career when he joined MBO Financial Group in 2002, which now continues as McLaren Hunt Financial Group.

Chris was born and raised on his parent's local dairy farm, which has given him some background knowledge of the region's strong farming heritage. His client base includes farmers, retail businesses, builders and other trades. Chris' responsibilities include preparing Business Activity Statements, financial statements, tax returns and tax planning for his clients, and assisting McLaren Hunt Financial Group clients with their accounting software needs.

Steph grew up on a dairy farm in South Australia and moved to Warrnambool in 2007. Steph joined the Taxation and Business Services division at the end of 2012 and works with a range of clients including farmers, small business and self-managed superannuation funds. Steph has a passion for agriculture and is currently involved with the Allansford Football Netball Club.
